LACKTHEREOF
Lackthereof is Danny from Menomena

„Lack thereof“ means something mentioned before is missing. And Lackthereof is the artist name of Danny Seim, the drumming giant of Menomena. Maybe he is referring to the absence of his two band mates? We can only guess. But the really big and big-hearted Mr. Seim carried on with his solo project for almost 10 years now, all under the same name he finished 9 (in words: nine!) albums. But only a selected few got to listen to those. Friends, family etc. Only the last (8th) got released on the very likeable small Indie label „Film Guerrero“. Of course, only a few more people got to listen to that one. But now Menomena and City Slang faithfully pledged eachother loyality and everlasting love last year - and when our favourite drummer entrusts us with such a sophisticated and elaborate album, we just can’t get in the way of a worldwide release!
But seriously, what he recorded under his own direction in the cellar of his home, cannot simply be labled as „the third“ of Menomena. The record sounds so complete as if there was a whole band working on it. But it is just a simple proof of Danny Seims creative potential spilling all over and romping inside this guy from Portland. We are quite certain, that he will provide us with more exciting output in the future. His part in Menomena shines as clearly now as never before. And even his cover version to The National’s „Fake Empire“ is its own little master piece. But why this solo-jaunt actually?

„In a nutshell, Lackthereof has always been a way for me to do anything I want to without worrying about how any other collaborators would tear it up and reconstruct it. This is both a blessing and a curse."

For us it is for sure a blessing... and mathematical the bill went open as well: 1/3 Menomena = still better than most others...!
