Plenty of press praise for the record below, but first, watch the all-new, Lynchian, José Gonzalez-starring, alien-furuncle-worm-featuring new video for "Falling From the Sky", which premiered last night via Pitchfork:

"Edge of the Sun sounds newly invigorated and inspired as Calexico reconsider their own past and find new music to explore."
Pitchfork

“Another illustration of the breadth and generosity of this remarkable group's vision.” Uncut – 8/10 (Americana Album Of The Month)

“Calexico's best work since 2003's Feast Of Wire. This is a definite leap forward.”
Q - 4 Stars ****

“A classic… Calexico combine with Band of Horses' Ben Bridwell on Falling From The Sky'; Iron and Wine's Sam Beam adds a new dimension to the fade-out of 'Bullets and Rocks'; Neko Case harmonises with herself on 'Tapping on the Line'; and Pieta Brown contributes to the wonderful 'When the Angels Played.”
The Sunday Times (Album of the Week)

“Whether they're cranking up the country-rock of 'Falling from the Sky' or musing moodily on a 'World Undone', ambience remains paramount to their music.”
The Independent – 4 Stars ****

“Edge Of The Sun gives off an authentic heat, whether through the mariachi trumpets on 'Falling From the Sky', the pedal steel and ghost harmonies of 'Tapping on the Line' or the lilting resignation of 'Miles from the Sea'… They cover an impressive range of genres through subtle, shifting songcraft and a care for detail.” Evening Standard – 4 Stars ****

“Endlessly compelling… Nine albums in and Calexico are still producing stand-alone work and have true longevity.”
The Sun - 4 Stars ****

“Calexico's most collaborative set yet, imbued with all the lovelorn romance of the mariachi that they do so well. The horn-laden, electro squelch of 'Cumbia de Donde' is a particular highlight, reminding us that Calexico are best when drawing old and new worlds together.”
MOJO – 3 Stars ***

"It's too early to tag Edge Of The Sun as the band's masterpiece, but song for song, it's the most textured and dimensional Calexico record" -- NPR

"As restless as ever, the band is pushing at expectations, exploring without repeating. The result is as engaging and sophisticated as anything in their rich catalog." LA Times

"Building a cohesive album from such eclectic source material is no easy task, but Calexico, drawing on the 25-year partnership between Burns and multi-instrumentalist John Convertino, put on a clinic." Consequence of Sound
