JAI ALAI is one of the most hazardous sports in the world, it’s kind of a hardcore version of Squash, players launch a heavy ball around a small room at speeds over 180 mph using hook-like, basket-woven gloves instead of rackets. Participants have been known to go blind, break limbs, and even die while playing the sport. The most skillfull players are called JAI-ALAI SAVANT. THE JAI-ALAI SAVANT was also written on a CD that mysteriously came to us in Chicago. It was freezing outside, we where looking for shelter and booze in a club, and there it must have happenend. We don’t really remember much of that evening and how or when we came home but when we woke up the next morning we found that stunning three song demo in our pockets. We didn’t know what to think of it, not even how to pronounce the name „The Dschei Alei Savant?“ Also these guys where heavily into DUB but they also loved Punk – imagine if King Tubby had done a session Fugazi, but with a different singer... a singer who screamed louder than a choir of ten hardcore shouters and was also more melodic and in tune than James Blunt! It was frisky and lion-hearted; at the same time, every song was an energetic blast from somewhere we haven’t been before. DIARY OF A MASS TRAPIST is a chronicle of attention disorder alienation in school, wrapped in sheets of heavy echos and basslines tipped with a gory choir at the ending. THUNDERSTATEMENT (the greatest title ever given to a punk anthem) is a song that we always hoped would come from DC at one point but it never came. And at the end the most ambitious question of our generation SCARLETT JOHANSSON WHY DON’T YOU LOVE ME, a perfect evaluation of a relationship gone wrong from the beginning. Nothing less than a rebel yell towards half-hearted, narrow minded, passion lacking compromises that keep piling up in our lives and making them unbearable. We were hooked.
